Xochiquetzal – Aztec goddess of beauty, sex, fertility, love & power
🌹Xochiquetzal, one of the main deities of the Aztecs was often described as youthful and beautiful. According to mythology she was described as being surrounded by wildlife like birds and butterflies.
🦜She can usually be seen in art dressed in feathers or flowers. She was the wife of the rain god Tlaloc. The stories say that eventually she was kidnapped by Tezcatlipoca, the god of the night. Xochiquetzal is a matron goddess of young mothers & pregnancy.
Mexican lore describes her as being extremely powerful and suggests that a variety of rituals were performed in her honor by her loyal following. She was worshipped greatly in ancient times, and one of her symbols is a flower.
