It is unwise to pick a battle with "The Morrigan" as she is widely known. Morrigan was a bringer of prophecies and had the ability to see the future including the end of the world! The Phantom Queen would often share her prophecies but sometimes it came with a price. Ravens are generally a representation of Morrigan due to the fact that ravens are often said to have been seen on battlefields.

Morrigan had other abilities besides being a prophet and predicting the future. She was able to shapeshift and she did so often. She took many forms and some included a beautiful maiden, warrior queen, raven, or an old crone. She was able to change to many different kinds of animals, but she chose raven most often.

The Morrigan appeared during the deaths of many distinguished and notable characters, and this has caused her to have been known as a banshee or a fairy. She appeared at the deaths of those at the Second Battle of Moytura & Cu Chulainn.

In many stories, she appeared as both one goddess and as three goddesses acting under a single name. Morrigan has had a longtime association with the symbolism of the Triple Goddess. There are locations in Ireland linked to Morrígan by name. The most prominent is Fulacht na Mór Ríoghna (“cooking pit of the Morrígan”) in County Tipperary. A fulacht fiadh, or burned mound with a cooking pit, this Bronze Age site has been linked to wandering bands of young warriors. A second location consists of two hills in County Meath known as the Dá Chich na Morrigna, or “two breasts” of the Morrígan. This landmark may have been used in a ritual or guardianship capacity.
