Milda
I've been doing tons of thinking lately, on many different subjects as you can imagine! Often life is full of crazy twists & turns. Sometimes it is easy to get caught in chaos and negativity. That is why it's important to stay focused, and ground ourselves and concentrate on the beautiful things in life.. such as LOVE. A friend of mine mentioned to me last night that it is okay to have a warrior spirit and to never stop having that spirit but to also be mindful of where I am directing my energy. Today I am directing it towards love. With that being said our goddess of the day is Milda - the Baltic Goddess of Love.
Milda comes from Lithuanian mythology (Yes, it really exists!) Milda is the Lithuanian goddess of love, courting, friendship and freedom. She helps her people combat loneliness and she is usually seen driving a chariot that is pulled by doves. Most importantly noted she drives the chariot naked, and if you see her you are only seconds away from love & romance. Her name is the nickname of Latvia’s Monument of Freedom in Riga. In May the Milda festival is celebrated. She is probably a 19th century invented Lithuanian love goddess but her traditional May feasts are connected with love, delight and youth. In pagan religions may is a very prominent time for celebrations of spring, as well as various gods and goddesses. Milda is one of the most important deities in Lithuanian folklore. She can easily be compared to Freya of Norse Mythology, or Aphrodite of Greek Mythology.
Ironically, this goddess of love was the subject of much hate. She was hated by many Catholics. Most pious Catholics and other followers of Jesus Christ and Yahweh (God, Allah) hated Milda. These gods many times stated that only they themselves are worthy of true love and devotion, so their priests could not stand the goddess who encouraged people to love each other!Milda favors love & friendship over marriage. She can often help you heal from a broken marriage or relationship. If you are in need of love or friendship, all you have to do is ask out to Milda and she will grant you your desires. You do not need to beg her, as long as you are genuine in what you ask!
